Hiroshima-Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Survivor Testimony Webinar

The John and Pat Hume Foundation and Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum, hosted a Hiroshima-Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Survivor Testimony Webinar which will take place on Thursday 22 February 2024 at 9.30am (6pm Japan time) through Zoom.

This webinar was in conjunction with the Hiroshima-Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Exhibition which was taking place at the Linen Hall, Belfast, a first-of-its-kind exhibition on the island of Ireland, which could be viewed until 28 February 2024. The exhibition, produced by the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum,(hpmmuseum.jp) highlighted the devastation wreaked by the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945, one of the most significant moments of the Second World War which ushered in the nuclear age. The survivor testimony was provided by Mrs Teruko Yahata who was 8 years old when she was exposed to the bomb in the back garden of her house, 2.5 km away from the hypocenter. This was followed by a testimony from a survivor who is involved with WAVE NI and we will close with a Q&A with both speakers. Due to the language barrier, there was also interpreters present to translate between English and Japanese. The webinar lasted 90 minutes in total. See below for a breakdown of the webinar.
