Join our Youth Network for Peace
The Youth Network for Peace (YNP) is a partnership of organisations working with young people on peacebuilding strategy, initiatives and actions. The Youth Network for Peace consists of Belfast City of Sanctuary, Cooperation Ireland, Diverse Youth, the John and Pat Hume Foundation, the Integrated Education Fund, Londonderry YMCA, Springboard-Opps, YouthAction Northern Ireland, the Northern Ireland Youth Forum, the North-South Youth Practice Development Hub and Ulster University. This is an open network for all those who want to join or take part. The Youth Network for Peace has emerged from the Peace Summit Partnership 2023 Call to Action No. 8. This call to action, entitled ‘Enhance Youth Participation’ states the following:
“Young People want to be involved in political and social processes but feel powerless as their voice is not listened to, creating a sense of frustration. The Agreement means little without the participation of young people in public life now and into the future. Young people must be part of official processes.”
The Youth Network for Peace will promote the voice of young people in political and social processes and work to support the next generation of peace builders in delivering the vision young people have outlined in the Peace Summit Report.
The YNP is a parallel process to the Peace Guardians that works independently on behalf of young people and through strategic partnerships.
The YNP will:
- Provide opportunities for young people to express their voice and take action to promote their vision for peace,
- Share opportunities for young people and advocacy across the organisations in the network and beyond,
- Support youth voice and youth leadership in peacemaking, peacebuilding and in political processes.
