The John and Pat Hume Foundation is organising two events to commemorate the fifth anniversary of the passing of John Hume: Nelofer Pazira-Fisk on Truth to Power: The Legacy of Robert Fisk on Saturday 2nd August at 5pm and Special Showing – John Hume Ireland’s Greatest on Sunday 3rd August at 5pm.
The events will reflect on the John and Pat Hume’s peerless service and commitment to the path of non-violent change and how we inspire current and emerging courageous leaders for peace, at home and internationally, who will chart a better way forward and build a more just and prosperous future for all.

Nelofer Pazira-Fisk discusses her experience completing her late husband’s book Night of Power : The Betrayal of the Middle East on Middle Eastern politics, his legacy as a journalist and shares her reflections on how Western mainstream media reports on the Israel-Palestine conflict.
Nelofer Pazira-Fisk is an award-winning Afghan Canadian author, journalist and filmmaker. She was based in Beirut for fifteen years working alongside her late husband, Robert Fisk. She reported for Canadian television and radio as well as UK and Canadian newspapers from Iraq, Afghanistan, Turkey, Egypt, and Syria.

Special Showing of RTE’s documentary John Hume- Ireland’s Greatest
In 2010, RTE ran a series of documentaries, where viewers voted to choose the greatest person in the history of Ireland. John Hume was voted Ireland’s Greatest following the showing of Miriam O’Callaghan’s documentary on John Hume.
After the showing of the documentary Miriam O’Callaghan will facilitate a conversation on the life and impact of John and Pat Hume and wider global issues with Sara Canning, campaigner for truth, justice and equality, Mark Durkan, former Deputy First Minister, and Tom Arnold, former CEO, Concern Worldwide.
